The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh will host a private lunch for US president Barack Obama and his wife today.
Mr Obama and the First Lady will dine at Windsor Castle – the day after the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have also invited the Obamas to have dinner with them at Kensington Palace this evening.
The US leader and his wife Michelle have developed a close bond with the Queen and her family, with the First Lady and the monarch striking up a firm friendship during the president’s 2011 state visit to the UK.
