In the week ending November 10 there were 24 incidents. In the week ending November 24, just two weeks later, this number had shot up to 76. ‘It is with regret, but something that we have come to realise, through experience that hate crime can increase during these difficult times,’ a Met spokesman said.
He added that they are ‘acutely aware’ that hate crimes remain under-reported, but extra patrols are being added and 900 officers are investigating hate crime.
