Dr Ogunremi Receives EPRA 2018 Outstanding Medical Innovative Award

Dr. Femi Ogunremi Received EPRA, Leadership and Entrepreneurial Award (Outstanding Medical Innovative of the year 2018) presented by Chief Mrs Patricia Ekechi The Former Mayor London Borough of Enfield.

Dr. Femi Ogunremi is a BRIDGE BUILDER in healthcare arena, a rare leader & the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Monitor Healthcare Ltd an award winning company with international face. Dr. Ogunremi is a Medical Practitioner with great talent in innovation. He is the Chairman Editorial Board for the Monthly Index of Medical Specialties (MIMS) Nigeria. At international level, he doubles as a Medical Director and Responsible Officer for Recruitment Synergy (an NHS England Designated Body for revalidation purpose) in London. As part of his role on this job, he recommend Consultants and General Practitioners to the regulatory bodies in the UK for continuous licensing to practice. He also appraises doctors for licensing purposes in the UK.

As a Medical Educator, he is actively involved in diverse training activities by working with various local and international organisations. His goal is to make available quality and affordable healthcare to all anywhere, anytime. Dr. Ogunremi blends innovation with education and information technology to move his goal in the direction to impact the lives of people especially in Nigeria and across Africa. He is a passionate leader and works with NMA and PSN to improve leadership skills amongst the healthcare providers in Nigeria. He has personally sponsored multiple trainings in this area and takes on mentorship roles amongst his colleagues. He continues to work with associations raising leaders of excellence and exemplary values who would be committed to building the healthcare system in Nigeria.

Dr. Ogunremi got his MBBS degree from the University of Ilorin. After his primary degree and NYSC in Nigeria, he has achieved multiple postgraduate degrees across Europe, United States and United Kingdom in the field of Tropical Medicine, Public Health, Emergency Medicine and General Practice. Aside his clinical education, he has postgraduate degrees on Healthcare Management, Medical Education and Executive Leadership in Healthcare. He is an alumni of University of Ilorin, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, University of Wolverhampton in the UK, Warwick University in the UK and Cornell University in USA

Dr Ogunremi is an experienced leader, teacher and researcher. Although he presently practices primarily is in the United Kingdom, he is by no means alienated from what is going on with the healthcare sector in Nigeria. He is actively involved and deeply committed to improving health care in Nigeria by bringing back home innovative and adaptable ideas. He does this by getting his hands dirty in the struggle for improvement in the Nigerian Health Sector.

He and his team recently launched the AreaDoc App a free to download mobile health app available on Android and iOS. The app facilitates access to medical care no matter where the user may be. One of Dr Ogunremi’s great work in across Africa is the introduction of a breast cancer screening device for fighting the scourge of breast cancer across Africa in a project he called ‘Against Breast cancer’ (ABC). Details can be found on the project website on www.breasti.monitorhealthcare.com.

In partnership with UK Medicine Information (UKMi), Commercial and Academic Services (CoAcS), Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) and Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), Dr Ogunremi through Monitor Healthcare Ltd, facilitated a national training for the pharmacists in Nigeria. Prior to this training, he has been working with PSN to develop Nigeria first Medicines Information unit which was launched after the training. He passionately believes that such trainings are the tactics to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the country.

He is also working with the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Association of General Practitioners and Private Practitioners (AGPMPN) and other healthcare organisations to train doctors and paramedical staff to align with quality healthcare delivery. He is also heavily involved in working with various healthcare facilities in renovation and managing their facilities in a manner that it will foster better and safer care delivery.

He is currently working with various partners developing and promoting an apprentice mentoring and training programme for youths who are skilled but struggling to get a job. This project is poised to give them skills in the entrepreneurial life and self libration. He is involved with various charities centred around improving quality of life. He runs a weekly TV programme called Monitor Your Health, an educative Programme where he invites specialists in various departments to discuss selected topics to educate the public on health related issues. He was also a member of Board of Trustees for the Shepherd Farmers Academy (SFM) a UK based charity empowering farmers in Nigeria. He is currently working with various Universities student unions and has been in the frontline to educate students about improving the standard of their health and introducing breast cancer screening awareness to students at the grassroots.
